2025 Recipients Receive Civic Achievement Award at Municipal Ceremony

On Friday, January 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., Mayor Pilon and Council hosted an award presentation ceremony

for the 2025 Civic Achievement Awards in the downstairs boardroom of the Municipal Office. The two recipients of the 2025 Awards were the Wawa Seniors Goose Club, and Doctors Mike Cotterill and Anjali Oberai.

The Wawa Seniors Goose Club was nominated and recognized for the organization’s longevity and commitment to enhancing the lives of Wawa’s senior citizens, while Doctor Mike Cotterill and Doctor Anjali Oberai were nominated and recognized for their long service and dedication to the community. The ceremony saw the recipients receive a Civic Achievement Award certificate as well as a goose print. When presented with the awards, each recipient thanked those within the community who also volunteer and contribute to Wawa.

As an addition to the award ceremony, a goose print People holding an awardwas presented to Mr. Michael Moore of Mike Moore Construction, who was recognized at request of the Royal Canadian Legion - Wawa Branch, for his dedication and efforts towards the procurement and installation of the new Wawa War Memorial located in front of the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre. Mr. Moore was unable to attend the event, so Alain Bouffard was present to accept it on his behalf. After the awards were presented, the attendees were invited to stay and celebrate with cupcakes, coffee and tea provided by Judy Page. Approximately 45 people were in attendance to celebrate.
