Recreation Programmer
The Municipality of Wawa is seeking a student for a full time summer position as Recreation Programmer. The Recreation Programmer will assist the Recreation Coordinator in delivering municipally programmed activities; leading sports, games and creative activities.
The position is part of the Government of Ontario’s Summer Employment Opportunities program known as the 2022 Summer Experience Program. The successful candidate will be expected to start July 4th and will work no later than August 26th. The pay rate is $15.48 per hour. The work schedule will include some evening and weekend hours.
Knowledge and Skills:
- High energy, self-starter
- Experience and/or desire to work with children and youth
- Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Able to problem solve effectively
- Maintain discipline overseeing large groups of people
- Basic artistic skills
Qualifications:
- Student must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 and not yet reached the age of 25 upon commencement of employment
- Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer
- Must be currently certified in Babysitter Course and/or First Aid & CPR Certifications
- Bilingual is an asset
- Experience working and/or volunteering in recreational programs is an asset
