Hourly Rate: $29.29 TO $33.74
The Municipality of Wawa is looking for someone who enjoys learning new skills, supports others and wants to grow professionally by working on a variety of tasks and projects to support the Municipality as an outstanding Administrative Assistant.
The position is full-time at 35 hours a week, offered in a flexible schedule from Monday to Friday that will include some evening meetings. The position will provide support to the Administrative, Building and Fire Departments and CAO-Clerk. The key duties of this position require exceptional customer service, superior written communication, and outstanding organizational skills as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks easily. A person who wants to be part of a team, who is dedicated, flexible and thrives in a fast-paced setting would be ideal. Job duties include:
- Provide back-up to the Senior Administrative Assistant which includes organizing Council and Committee Meetings, Agendas and Minutes.
- Organize records management and controls municipal documents.
- Prepare correspondence, by-laws and resolutions and conduct research.
- Assist the Clerk with Municipal Elections, tracking Marriage and Transit Bookings and other similar Municipal Act responsibilities.
- Organize Information Technology needs in Municipality.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Municipal Website.
- Support Committees including the Superior East OPP Board by organizing meetings and taking minutes and required follow-up.
- Draft marketing materials, communications and media releases.
- Respond to email, phone and written public and staff inquiries.
- Integrate Artificial Intelligence into operating procedures (e.g. GPT Chat).
- Perform other related duties and projects assigned by the CAO-Clerk.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Two-year College Diploma in Office Administration or related education.
- Two-five years’ related experience in an office team environment.
- Well-developed administrative skills including ability to use Microsoft Office.
- Excellent customer service, oral and written communications.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
- Knowledge of municipal government is an asset.
- Keen interest in learning new skills and supporting other team members.
