NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING 

ZONING AMENDMENT – CHANGE RURAL (RU) ZONE TO INDUSTRIAL(M1)

TO PERMIT CONTRACTOR’S YARD ON PINEWOOD DRIVE

TAKE NOTICE THAT the Municipality of Wawa has received an application to amend Zoning By-Law No. 2821-15. The application affects land described as PART OF 386 Highway 17, LOC EQ122PT PCL 275 MICH PT on Pinewood Drive in Wawa, Ontario. (See Key Map). A statutory Public Meeting to receive input and comment will be held on:

Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.
40 Broadway Avenue, Wawa, Council Chambers
(In-Person or ZOOM Attendance Available)

 

 

PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT  

The effect of Zoning By-Law Amendment would be to Rezone a portion of the subject property from Rural (RU) to General Industrial (M1) to permit the development of a Contractor’s Yard on a portion of the subject property.

The property is also subject to an Application for Consent to Sever which, if approved, will create a new lot that the current owner, Level Plains Enterprises Inc. will sell to a private company, Nextera Energy, who will create a business to service hydro lines in the region.

Any person may provide written submissions regarding the zoning by-law amendment sent to the Clerk by July 19, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at moneill@wawa.cc or by mail to: Municipality of Wawa, 40 Broadway Avenue, P0S 1K0, P.O. Box 500. Any person wishing to make an oral statement during the meeting should contact Maury O’Neill at moneill@wawa.cc or 705-856-2244 ex. 223 by Friday, July 19, 2024 at Noon to ensure inclusion in the meeting. Participation may be by ZOOM but arrangements must be made ahead of the meeting.  

If providing written submissions or making an oral statement regarding the proposed amendment, please note that your name and and communication with the Municipality will become part of the public record.

IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY wishes to be notified of Council's decision on this proposal, you must send a written request to Maury O’Neill at moneill@wawa.cc or Municipality of Wawa, 40 Broadway Avenue, Wawa, ON, P0S 1K0, P.O. Box 500.

IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Council of the Municipality of Wawa to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Municipality of Wawa before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Municipality of Wawa before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
